This is so much better than the canned variety – we beg Sug to make it every time we eat turkey. It is usually gone before the leftover turkey.

Recipe

12 oz fresh cranberries = not quite 4 cups berries
1 cup water
1 to 1-1/2 cups sugar
Pinch of salt

Wash cranberries.

Bring water to a boil, add cranberries and boil 5 – 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to keep from burning.

Put berries through a strainer. Catch the juice and return the liquid to the pot and cook over low heat for 3 minutes stirring frequently.

Add sugar to taste and pinch of salt and cook 2 minutes more.

Pour into bowl (or canning jar) and chill.

Prayer

King of angels, Gabriel and the whole host of heaven must have rejoiced when Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to Your Word.” Mary too serves as a model of faithfulness and obedience. Help us to be equally responsive to God’s call to us. Amen.
