This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Traditionally, the image of a scroll represents holy wisdom. In classic works of art and in religious icons, the scroll is often depicted in the hands of prophets or the Apostles as they were seen as the conveyors of God’s teachings. The image of a scroll appears throughout scripture and can also be used to symbolize truth, God’s judgment, God’s record of events and lives, God’s word or teachings for us.
Loving God, we thank You for the gift of Your word and Your guidance for our lives. May we take the time today to read the Bible and reflect on our call to be Your loving and obedient people. Amen.
