In the Great Commission God says: “Go, Baptize, Teach, I’ve got your back!”

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20

I sat and looked at this ‘Good News’ for a long time. I even put a copy of it on my wall, right behind my computer! Since I felt my first sentence kind summed it all up, what more could I add? Then I realized that this scripture is the reason I made ‘First Pres’ my ‘First Choice’. After the people, it was the dedication to local, national, and international mission that snagged me into coming back and joining. And how does a church and its people live this scripture? I think one of my favorite hymns explains what I see daily in the life of this church and its members.

Take my life, my moments and my days,
Take my hands and feet, take my voice and let me sing,
Take my lips, my silver and my gold,
Take my intellect, my will, my heart,
Take my love, take myself.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us to go, baptize, and teach and never grow weary of your request. Amen.
