The past seven months have been filled with many changes in the McKee household. From the moment we found out we were expecting a little bundle of joy, life as we knew it started to change – drastically. Joe and I are beyond blessed to welcome a baby boy into our lives in mid-November and when thinking about Kindness as part of the Fruits of the Spirit, led me to think of our amazing family, friends, and church family.

As a first time mom, I am filled with at least a zillion questions on any given day and many people have offered advice, helpful hints, or words of wisdom for me to use. Everyone has been extremely concerned about my well-being, always asking how I’m feeling. One dear friend even came to my house for over 2 hours and helped me figure out the things that would be helpful to have when bringing home a newborn and things that we wouldn’t necessarily need, at least for a while. Another friend sends me e-mails on a regular basis with her thoughts on certain things I definitely want to make sure we have on hand for Baby McKee’s arrival. Other friends and family members have helped to put together furniture, move furniture, and provide a welcoming environment for Baby McKee as well as necessities and play items for him to enjoy as he grows up.

Our family, friends, and church family have showed us extreme kindness these past few months, praying for our little bundle of joy, praying for us, and helping us muddle through parenting 101. We have truly been blessed with genuine kindness and we know that we are loved and we are so very thankful for everyone sharing in this joyous Fruit of the Spirit. As children we learn the Golden Rule at an early age – Treat other people the way you would want to be treated. We have definitely experienced this and I pray that we can do the same for others down the road. Thank you all for your loving kindness.

Prayer

Loving God we are so very blessed with incredible friends and family. We pray that we can show kindness towards all of those that we come in contact with – those we know very well and those we only meet for a few seconds. Help us to share your loving kindness with everyone. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
