The Best Gift of All!

The best gift I recall happened during my childhood years. I was 10 years old and living on my parent’s farm. I had three cousins who lived in Havana City, Capital of Cuba. They were my favorite cousins, three girls close to my age. I always enjoyed their visit to our farm and looked forward to it.

My parents had invited the girls and their parents to spend Christmas with us on our farm. The family was not sure whether they could come or not, but about two weeks before Christmas they let us know that they would indeed spend Christmas with us. I was overjoyed and told my parents, “This is the best gift I have ever received for Christmas”.

To this day, being with family or with my friends is the best gift I can receive. My love for family and for friends fills my soul with the most wonderful feeling anyone can have. It Is The Best Gift Of All! Except for God’s gift to us of His son Jesus!

Isaiah 9:6

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Prayer

God our Father, we thank You that You ordered our lives to be a part of a family. We thank You for parents and children, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and for the good times we have enjoyed in each other’s company. At Christmas and indeed throughout the year may we live out what the Psalmist described: “How good and how pleasant it is [for families] to dwell together in unity.” (Psalm 133:1) Amen.
