Matthew 6:9-13

Pray, then, in this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be revered as holy. May your kingdom come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.

At First Pres, the Lord’s Prayer is a part of worship that happens in both styles of worship service and every Sunday. It helps us conclude the Prayers of the People as we, as a community of faith, lift our voices together in prayer. The Lord’s Prayer has its roots in scripture and serves to unite us with countless other Christians who have offered a version of this prayer throughout history.

Prayer

Holy God, You are a God of all generations and all languages. We give You thanks for the gift of prayer that allows us to offer praise and petition to You. We thank You for guidance in scripture that directs us how to pray and to be in relationship with You. Guide us to always remain in dialog with You and seek times every day to come to You in prayer for we know that You are faithful. Amen.
