Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
    Serve the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;[
a]
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him; bless his name.

For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever
and his faithfulness to all generations.

post·lude: /ˈpōs(t)lo͞od/

noun

  1. a concluding piece of music, especially an organ piece played at the end of a religious service.

We are fortunate as a church to have an organ, and an excellent organist. And the postlude helps us to conclude our traditional worship services each Sunday in joy and holiness.

Where we are called into God’s presence with music and singing, we also make our way out of God’s house with our souls lifted up by music. Music and praise are the bookends of corporate worship.

Prayer

We thank you God for the gift of music, and the way it helps our spirits to soar. And thank you for those gifted musicians that you use as instruments of praise. Amen.
