Proverbs 3:5-8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be a healing for your flesh
    and a refreshment for your body.

Prayer

God of All, we thank You for the blessings in our life.  We praise You for our loved ones, the food on our table, the freedoms we enjoy in the country, and the very breath in our lungs.  We know that everything is a gift from You.  Yet, it is sometimes easy for us to complain, compare, boast, and overlook.  All we have to do is look at the change in our pocket to be reminded of the importance of trusting You.  Strengthen us to recognize that we are called to place You first in our lives, that Your love and care is evident, and that we are called to share that love and care with all those we encounter.  Help us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to lift up all of our brothers and sisters so that we can all experience Your peace and provision.  In Your name we pray, Amen.
