Psalm 5:11-12

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
 let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
 so that those who love your name may exult in you.
For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
 you cover them with favor as with a shield.

Prayer

Merciful God, You are truly Lord of all. Today, we give You thanks and praise for the gift of joy. You shower us with so much to be grateful for: shelter, food, the love of family and friends, and Your love, protection, and provision. You also give us the gift of joy and laughter. May we be mindful of the places and times today where we smile or laugh. In response to that moment, may we pause and thank You as the author of joy in our lives. Help us to share joy and laughter with others we meet this day. In Your name we pray, Amen.
