His Precepts are Trustworthy
“1Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
3Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.
4He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the Lord is gracious and merciful.
5He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.
6He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.
7The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.
8They are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
9He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name.
10The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.”
And so, the Holy Spirit provides as the Pastoral staff seeks to create daily devotions. Each centering around themes and plans that are long series collections that even amid human error; one series ends a day earlier than the plan for the next to start -the Spirit provides. What Psalm I wondered could tie us from our earlier Psalm series, the Christmas stories and then the next devotional series to be introduced? Psalm 111’s shimmering words ‘his precepts are trustworthy,” were there. One more than our Psalmtember series included. One more Psalm’s timeless wisdom to strengthen our faith today. May you be blessed and read anew this Holy Spirit provided Psalm too.
Merciful God, guide us in this new year with such faithfulness that we can fully give thanks with our whole hearts. May the Holy Spirit’s strength uphold us. May Christ’s salvation give us peace. In his holy name, we pray. Amen
