And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Sometimes I struggle to come up with an idea for this devotion. Today there are so many ideas swimming around that I am struggling to narrow it down! I am thinking about the B I B L E (yes, that’s the book for me!). I stand alone on the Word of God . . . how appropriate it is for us to remember the words to this children’s song. Where else can we go to find the story of us, to have the history of the Christian faith, the teachings of Jesus, caught in words for us to read, discuss, and live. This is the book to go to for comfort, hope, faith and healing. These words of Paul should be alive in us today as we go about our daily lives. This book is meant to be read, shared, pondered over and accepted as a written testament of the love of our Lord for us.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us to really accept this book as an extension of your love for us. Help us to work towards better understanding of your teachings and accept your great gifts. Amen.
