Jane West’s “favorite” nativity set is really a collection of counted cross-stitch pieces including a tree skirt, wall hanging and tree ornaments.

Jane writes, “This Tree Skirt is the very first cross-stitched design that my mother, Sug Zowarka, ever made. It has been our family tradition since 1989 to have it be the foundation of our Christmas Tree. She also created a wall hanging and three ornaments in a complimentary cross stitch pattern.

We also enjoy being part of the Living Nativity scene at First Pres., an activity which gives us pause to reflect on the true meaning of this December holiday and to share the miracle of His birth and blessings with others.”

Scripture: Psalm 46:10

Thought for the Day: In the busy Christmas season, is there a place and a time each day that I can find and claim so as to be still and sense God’s presence?

Prayer: Lord, during the Advent Season, it is too easy to get caught up in the commercialization of your birth. Help us learn to take time to be still, and listen for the reverberations of the small voice of a new born babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a Bethlehem manger. Amen.
