I am thankful for salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast.

Years ago I heard Dr. Bob McLeod, long-loved former pastor of First Pres, share a quote from another great Christian.

In essence, Dr. McLeod reflected on the day when he was saved:

It was 2000 years, on a hill outside Jerusalem.”

That, too, is when I was saved, when Jesus died on a cross for Dr. McLeod, me, and you. I didn’t do something special or great that caused God to love and save me. “By grace I have been saved through faith … and this is a gift from God. God loves me and claims me as God’s own child.

And I am thankful for my salvation.

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for grace, and faith, and placing me in a right relationship with the God who made me. Let me now live each day knowing that I have been saved. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
