My favorite Contemporary Christian song currently playing on the radio is Bless the Lord Oh My Soul (10,000 Reasons) by Matt Redman. The moment the song starts to play on the radio it’s like the rest of the world disappears and it becomes my quality time with God. For those of you who are familiar with the Five Love Languages, Quality Time is my top love language and the way that my love tank is filled up by spending quality time with those I care about. It is the same way God and I connect as well. Listening to Christian radio while driving around town or on long trips is what I do. I truly LOVE Contemporary Christian music because it instantly connects me with God.

The lyrics are:

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul Worship His holy name
Sing like never before O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Let’s look at Psalm 103, verses 1-5 in the New King James Version:

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

This beautifully written song reminds us that no matter what, we are to praise God. We praise Him in the mornings, throughout the day and at the end of our life. No matter what is happening all around us, we are called to give Him thanks and praise. We have so many reasons to praise Him, when you look at the beginning of Psalm 103, some are listed. He forgives our sins, heals us, transforms our life, loves us unconditionally, and He satisfies our desires. As we begin our Lenten journey together, I hope that you will take time and listen to these songs that we write about. I’m excited to go on this journey with you all.

Prayer

Bless the Lord oh my soul, we come to You giving You thanks and praise for another beautiful day. Help us to praise You in the morning, praise You throughout the day and when we go to sleep at night, give You praise again. We are so blessed and even through the days that we struggle, we know You are right there with us. Help us to remember, there are more than 10,000 reasons to praise You! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
