After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:

“Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your shield,
your very great reward.”

But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can You give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
Genesis 15:1-6

What is something you have always wanted? Maybe it’s a month long vacation, maybe it’s physical healing, maybe it’s reconciliation with a family member, maybe it is peace, whatever it may be, you know there’s something you really want and you pray for it earnestly. What did Abram want? He wanted children. Many other people pray this same prayer of having children and now as a mother, it really breaks my heart to hear these stories of parents who just want to hold their own child in their arms. I pray for God’s peace and God’s comfort to be upon them. God made a promise to Abram that he would have as many descendants as the stars in the sky. I know what you’re thinking, that’s one big family gathering! Even though this may have seemed outrageous or unimaginable, Abram believed the Lord and credited Him as righteousness. There we are again; we get to experience Abram’s amazing faith which in turn will help our faith grow stronger.

What are you praying for? What are you believing for in your life? Friends, don’t give up, don’t lose heart. I know some prayers aren’t answered the way we wish this side of Heaven but I do believe God answers them, just not always according to “our will or plans.” But in the meantime, during those times of waiting, keep praying, keep believing, and keep hoping. Our God is a God of miracles, He’s a God of extraordinary blessings, and He loves YOU!

Prayer

Sovereign Lord, You oh Lord are our everything. We lift up those prayer requests that we pray to You day in and day out. Father God move the mountains that only You can move and give us peace when Your way is really better. Direct our steps and give us faith like Abram. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
