Punkin Smith’s nativity set collection includes one that emphasizes that we are sheep of the Lord’s pasture.  (Psalm 100)

Knowing how much Punkin likes sheep and has collected them for years, a friend gave her a Sheep Nativity three years ago.  All of the characters, Mary, Joseph, etc. are depicted as sheep.  Only the Baby Jesus is in human form.  All the characters are made of wool fabric or yarn.  Punkin displays this nativity set on the coffee table or a side table of her great room.

Of course, we all know that Jesus is referred to as the Lamb of God.

Scripture: Luke 2:8-14

Thought for the Day: Isaiah has written, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way,”  The news of the birth of the Good Shepherd was first announced to lowly shepherds keeping watch over their flocks by night.  While a Good Shepherd is what we all need, even more God gave us what we most desperately needed; a Savior!  Thanks be to God!

Prayer: Savior of the World, we are like sheep who have gone astray.  We have sinned by things we have done we ought not to have done and things we needed to do but failed to do.  We acknowledge that You are the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  Forgive us of our sins and help us to live as Your faithful and obedient people.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen.
