Emmanuel Means God with Us

What a wonderful expression, remember no matter what happens, I am with you always! This is the closing word given by Jesus to those who walked with him while he was on the earth. “Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Mt. 28:20. Take a moment and think, what a wonderful different world we would live in if everybody lived with such a pledge. Friend, I am with you always.

I say this because this is the way of living, no matter who you are or who you may be in the course of things, there comes a time for each of us, when we will have to say good bye. Though I personally do not like to say good bye to anyone or anything, the time comes when I will have to, I have no choice. Why? Because this is the way life is.

Of course, not all good-byes are terrible. When you leave one job because a better one has come along. When your family has to move because of the new job, the good out plays the bad. When a child is born into the family, we all celebrate! Still, there comes a time when that child needs to make a move, either to college, or perhaps an employment opportunity. As difficult as it may be, for their good, it must be done. As we go our separate ways, we give each other the promise Christ did, “and remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

I am with you always is a word of assurance that no matter what or where, we are together always. We can say this because no matter what, as I live you will live also in me. What an uplifting experience to know that though miles apart, I am with you and you are with me. Together we will be as one; every decision, every act, every moment, we are together. Living, acting, and being in all things forever, as long as we both shall live.

Prayer

Heavenly Father God, as we do live out our days, it is always as one in You. In Your Spirit we will live together as You have lived in us, and as we hold to the promise of Your Son that He will be “with us always” we will be faithful and blest with Him. We pray in His name. Amen.
