Train Day at Ridge Live Steamers with the Doblers

Scripture: Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
but those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.

Its always a joy and bittersweet for the end of the year gathering on train day, where we celebrate the year of Christ’s Kids with some rides on the tracks. Joining the Ridge Live Steamers Club for an afternoon on their unique and special 7 ½ gauge railroad with over 7,500 feet of track, the kids sit back and enjoy the ride. I experience God through the intergenerational care of the club, especially Rich and Nancy Dobler serving ice cream and brownies and sharing their love with our Christ’s Kids. We follow the tracks through miniature towns, bridges, a tunnel, and my favorite, ‘Sink and Springs’ park, you’d have to see to appreciate. The Christ’s Kids keep their eyes peeled for their favorite part, too. We are always sad to leave and look forward to visiting next time!

Prayer

O Holy One, we give thanks to You for being a part of our lives, through restless feet and wrinkled hands. We sing praises for the sharing of our loves and passions with the next generation and for all the ways You have shown Your love in ministries like Christ’s Kids. Guide our feet and steady our hands to truly be risen up like eagles in our service of You. Amen.
