Romans 5:1-6

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have obtained access[b] to this grace in which we stand, and we[c] rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. More than that, we[d] rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.

While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly

Prayer

God of grace and mercy, like gold is refined by fire, help me to realize that I might be made stronger as I pass through troubles that I cannot avoid. Let me try to rejoice in an event of suffering by seeing how I have been able to endure. Show me how character is developed in me as a follower of Jesus. And give me a hope that does not disappoint. Keep me on the faithful path as I look for joy in each day of my earthly journey. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
