Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I have always loved this verse and find it extremely uplifting but when you sit down and truly dissect it, it can actually be a bit of a challenge. We are called to rejoice always. Wait its Monday morning and the time just changed, I’m having a hard time rejoicing. But then again, we also know that our outward circumstances should not affect our inward joy, but that is easier said than done, some days depending on what is coming at us. I think sometimes we have to change our perspective and look at things through His eyes, rather than our own.

Pray continually. God wants to hear from us all throughout the day, regardless of whether or not it’s our typically “prayer time.” He wants us to be in constant conversation with Him which helps to draw us even closer to Him and strengthen our relationship with Him and our faith. Just simply stating – Thank you Jesus or I need You Jesus, may be just what we need and just what God is longing to hear from us.

While reading my study Bible, when I came across “give thanks in all circumstances,” this doesn’t mean that we have to thank God for everything that happens to us, because evil things do occur. But IN every situation, we need to find the good and know that He is with us through all that comes our way, and to thank Him for His faithfulness. God loves us and He wants a loving, honest, open, and continual relationship with us. We are so very blessed!

Prayer

We thank You Lord for this brand new day and all our many blessings. Help us to reach out to You through the busyness of the day to be in communication with You. Remind us of Your constant Presence in our lives. We thank You for Your faithfulness and that no matter what, You are there with us through all our various circumstances. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
