Here I Am Lord

Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. Acts 10:34-36

I love music. You can tell from my previous devotions that oftentimes the Lord speaks to me through music. As soon as I read these verses, the chorus from Here I am Lord started playing in my head.

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.

Friends, how many times has God called you to share the Gospel with someone? Maybe it’s simply in letting them go in front of you in line, or letting out the next car that is waiting to turn left. Maybe it’s sitting down with a friend and having a heart to heart prayer when it might be the first time someone has ever prayed with them. To me, that is sharing the Gospel because it’s showing His love and peace to those we may or may not know. I realize I write a lot about our Honduras Mission Trips but it’s because they have changed my life and they have changed others who have attended these trips as well. When we go on these trips we are never quite sure what we will be faced with, who we will meet, what we will encounter, but we know that God goes with us and He will lead us. Just like Peter was saying, sometimes we have to step outside of our comfort zones to “preach the Gospel.” Those who don’t know Jesus may be waiting for an encounter from us in order to meet Him. It may be up to us show them His Way.

Prayer

Gracious Lord please help us to be open to where You are calling us to go. Help us to spread Your love and message every chance we get. Give us the courage to step up and to speak up. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
