Thanksgiving for Deliverance and Prayer for Help

To the leader. Of David. A Psalm.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,[
a]
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God

I like doing biblical research on a web-site known as biblegateway.com. You can look at dozens of English translations of a verse. You can also type in a word and see how and where it occurs in scripture.

According to this source, the word “waited” appears 21 times in the Bible. “Wait” is used 177 times. “Waiting” occurs 30 more times. I guess we could say that the people in Bible times knew about waiting. And so do we.

And as we wait for God, we are often pleased with the outcome.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the desolate pit,[
a]
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God

We have been waiting to see some special people. We have been waiting to worship together. We have been waiting for better times.

Does it seem that we are being drawn up from a desolate pit and out of a miry bog? Maybe, slowly and safely.

Does it seem that God is making our steps somewhat secure?

Soon, we may be singing (or humming) a new song in our hearts. A song of praise to God.

Prayer

Lord, we have been waiting for the coming of some of the things and people we have missed. Let us praise You for the incremental arrival of these blessings. Amen.
