She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength,
and makes her arms strong.
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.

Proverbs 31:16-19

The writer of Proverbs didn’t end the praise of women at the front door of the home. In the description of the virtuous woman, her activity extended to the marketplace.

This woman might be involved in the buying and selling of land; the planting of vineyards, the creation of textiles ……

Wonderful women abound in the workplace, too.

Prayer

Thank you, God, for the women I encounter each day as I am moving from place to place. And for how they make my world better through what they do. Bless them, and me, in Christ’s name. Amen.
