There is a tongue-in-cheek prayer: “God, I need patience… right now.” I laugh at this prayer, usually by myself. I am definitely one of those people who want everything to happen right now, sometimes living out of the moment. I sometimes miss what is around me because I am worrying about what is next.

God’s time is not something that we may understand, or even like. 2 Peter 3 reminds us that to the Lord, “a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” It may take a while for God to reveal his plans, which can be painful for people like me.

For people like me, we read Luke 12 where Jesus tells his disciples to not worry about our lives, because God will take care of us.

In God’s time.

Prayer

Eternal God, grant me wisdom so that I might trust in your time. Amen.
