Mark 1:1
1 The beginning of the good news[a] of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.[b]
“Christ” is mentioned 469 times in the New Testament. The first reference is in the first verse of the first chapter of Mark’s gospel.
As followers of Jesus, we often refer to Him as the Christ/the Messiah.
The New Testament Greek word for Christ begins with the letters Chi and Rho (to us they look like an X and a P). The monogram Chi Rho was a symbol for the early church of our Lord Jesus, the Christ.
Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, even the mention of your name fills us with awe and praise. We thank You for Your glory, power, and grace. Help us to keep Your name upon our lips, so that we will always tell the world of You. Amen.
