Psalm 118:24

In working on yesterday’s sermon from Psalm 118:24, I had a little too much material to include and still get us out at a reasonable hour. I had to work something in at the end that I have pondered over the years. So, for today, let’s think about it.

This is the day that the Lord has made. There may be something in this day that can make me rejoice and be glad.

A number of years back, one of the saints in our church showed me a little clipping that she had taped to the mirror on the dresser in her room. It was one of the first things she read each morning:

Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift from God
That’s why they call it “The Present.”

Prayer

God, let me look at this day as a gift from You. Help me to find in it a reason to rejoice and be glad, as I live as a redeemed disciple of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
