A Christmas pageant I will always remember was First Presbyterian’s 2007 Living Nativity.

I was an angel with my little sister, Sadie, and all the other girls. We started to sing with our heavenly voices. We stood over to the side and watched the other parts.

After we sang another song, the three Wise Men (Mr. Britt, Mr. Alexander, and my dad, Mr. Owen) came over to give baby Jesus their presents. When Mary looked up she saw her own husband (Mr. Britt) with his fake buck teeth and all the other Wise Men with theirs. I think they even had a squirt flower. We saw it all!

That was the funniest Christmas pageant ever!!

Philippians 4:4

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Prayer

Loving Father, two Christmas hymns depict the baby Jesus quite differently. “Away in a Manger” tells us “. . .the poor baby wakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.” “Once in Royal David’s City” tells us “He was little, weak and helpless, tears and smiles like us He knew. . .” In an effort to console crying children, parents or other caregivers may resort to making funny faces. Thank you, Lord, for giving us a sense of humor and for filling our lives with great joy for the inexpressible gift of Your Son, Jesus. We make our prayer in His name. Amen.
