September 8, 9:30 – 10:30 am
FOR THE CHILDREN
SPARK Sunday School will begin for our children (PreK-5th grade) and will be sparking faith starting Sunday, September 8 after the time with younger disciples in the Heart of Worship service. PreK-K will be meeting in Room 101 and 1st through 5th grades in Room 206. Don’t forget they will also be doing music with Ms. Lynn before their respective classes and ART on the third Sunday. Sunday School ends at 10:30 am.
Can’t make it to church? Your family can activate faith with God’s Word by connecting with the stories at home with our Spark home sheets and buying a copy of the Story Bible at www.weareSparkhouse.org.
AND FOR THE ADULTS
Embracing: Forgiveness with Barbara Cawthorne Crafton in Room 207
Join Bill Lockhart and videos with Barbara Cawthorne Crafton as we study embracing forgiveness – beginning with clarity that eases the guilt often associated with the lack of forgiveness by saying what it isn’t. It is not a job or task; it is not a conditional act to earn God’s love. It is, Crafton believes, a spiritual gift given freely by a God who simply wants to connect with us. Over the five-week study, she shows how forgiveness can remove the tumor of anger from our hearts to become a means of grace that gives back our humanity. May the thoughtful insights of this class weigh the transforming power of forgiveness in your own life. (Reminder, this class will not be meeting on the First Sundays.)
Perspectives Sunday School starts September 22 at 9:30 am in the Geneva Room
Perspectives Class with Glenn Thomas and Old Testament scholar, Walter Brueggemann, presents five weeks of entertaining and thoughtful, fifteen-minute, video clips of his message Countering Pharaoh. Brueggemann’s message sharpens our understanding of the Exodus story and our responsibility to address the similarities that exist in America today. Our discussion following each week’s video will attempt to faithfully discuss those similarities. The first class will start on Sunday, September 22.
